In an effort to create a long lasting hub for basketball in Whitehawk, the East Brighton Trust funded the Community Basketball Initiative to support a FREE opportunity for 8 to 12 year olds to learn the fundamentals of basketball. The sessions now attract regular participants and involve fun games designed to teach the fundamental skills needed to play basketball. A new session recently began for 15 to 17 year olds as a result of expressions of interest from local schools and colleges.
Miguel Tello (Community basketball Initiative Coordinator) got in touch to tell us:"We now have regular participants and are looking for more!...Most participants agree that basketball is a lot of fun! It engages physical and mental coordination as well as promoting physical fitness... Participants get a lot from this game; they learn team work values, gain confidence and become fitter individuals"
